Horses for Hope uses equine-assisted learning and therapy to assist people with a range of issues. The program’s clients may be victims of abuse or trauma or have experienced an accident or natural disaster. They may also be suffering from the effects of a developmental or mental health issue. The program operates out of Shepparton and Kinglake, Victoria.
Horses for Hope can assist individuals, families, and groups in developing life skills such as:
Horses for Hope has gained a reputation for assisting individuals and groups that have tried a range of other therapeutic options without success, or have refused to access other services.
Suitable for individuals aged three years and up (with a parent or adult guardian). Horses for Hope receives referrals from schools, government agencies, mental health and justice, community support agencies and members of the public (self-referrals).
The program can also be used to teach skills such as teamwork, leadership and change management with corporate and community groups.
