Championing community inclusivity

Everyone is unique.

The Diversity Project aims to create a safer, more inclusive and healthier community for young people under 25 years old who are LGBTIQA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender divers and non-binary, intersex, queer and asexual) in Greater Shepparton and Moria Shires.

Community members who identify as LGBTIQA+ come from all walks of life and social and ethnic backgrounds. The inclusiveness of all people in communities, regardless of their sexual preferences and gender orientation is essential to champion diversity. Young people who recognise themselves as LGBTIQA+ need to feel safe and welcomed in community spaces, just like anyone else.

How does the Diversity Project provide support?

At the centre, we provide support to diverse communities through education and creating safe spaces. You’ll be supported through a combination of:

Diversity Group (support group for 12-25yrs) – held once a month as a safe space for young people to access peer connection
Case Management (0-25yrs) – case planning, capacity building, providing education and a strong focus on advocacy
Community Development – community education, advocacy, events, secondary consultation to services/organisations
Diversity In Schools – working with schools in Greater Shepparton and Moira Shire on inclusive practice, student and staff education, advocacy and upskilling of the school community.
