GARDEN FIESTA TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY TIES
`Weaving Stronger Community’ is the theme of this years’ Garden Fiesta at PepperTree Place- an annual event which celebrates the beauty and diversity of the local area while fostering greater community connection.
The Garden Fiesta on Saturday November 7 at PepperTree Place in Coburg, and proudly sponsored by Yarra Valley Water, will feature live music featuring fantastic local acts, roving entertainment, free garden workshops, affordable quality plants from the PepperTree Community Nursery, market stalls and outdoor nature activities for kids suitable for all abilities.
Visitors can weave their own community ties by reveling in the surrounds whilst knitting, crocheting or stitching in the `Sit In Knit In’ space, and, for the first time, a Healing Hub will provide a special place dedicated to pampering people with massage and holistic body treatments.
Locally grown, organic, handmade treats will be available all day from the Pop-Up Café.
A unique social enterprise of Kildonan UnitingCare, PepperTree Place is a volunteer-powered, local, green initiative created by the community for the community.
PepperTree Place is a tranquil and quirky community garden hidden in the heart of busy Coburg. The creatively designed community space boasts a productive kitchen garden, living edible classroom, affordable community plant nursery and a pop-up café, all framed within beautiful gardens, an historic bluestone church and stables.
Kildonan Chief Executive Officer Stella Avramopoulos said the Garden Fiesta’s `Weaving Stronger Community’ theme reflects the values of PepperTree Place.
“PepperTree Place is a community garden and space where families and communities can come together to learn about growing and preparing fresh food, improving health and enhancing their links with the community,” she said.
“The Garden Fiesta is a real chance to celebrate and be inspired by the environment around us.” Ms Avramopoulos said.
